Here's a beautiful musical revamp of the John Legend & The Roots' 'Shine' off of their 2010 'Wake Up' album from Ahmed Sirour which he entered into the Indaba Music John Legend/The Roots remix competion for a chance to win $1000 and some decent exposure... This musical arrangement is really amazing and not to take anything away from the original or any other remixes floating around BUT this is different!
"Aside from John (of course), I kept ?uestlove on drums and the horn section. All other original parts I left out. I wanted to make an orchestral remix so added strings, french horns, harps, kettle drums, and windchimes (and that's just the intro lol). I changed many of the chord progressions and then arranged a bassline that was played live by my amazing bassist friend, Joel Powell. I also played the piano and organ parts, edited new breaks, mixed, and finally mastered it. That's about it. Compare it to the original and I guarantee you'll hear the differences. This was mad fun!" - Ahmed Sirour
If you like it as much as I do or even remotely, please take a moment to cast a vote for Ahmed Sirour via the little device below OR via this link here!

"For years, there have been documented cases of UFO sightings around the world - Buenos Aires, Seoul, France, Germany, China. But in 2011, what were once just sightings will become a terrifying reality when Earth is attacked by unknown forces. As people everywhere watch the world's great cities fall, Los Angeles becomes the last stand for mankind in a battle no one expected. It's up to a Marine staff sergeant (Aaron Eckhart) and his new platoon to draw a line in the sand as they take on an enemy unlike any they've ever encountered before." - Official Synopsis

Lemme draw your ears to the recently released first single from emerging Australian singer/songwriter Barry Southgate titled 'Don't You Think?' off of his forthcoming EP 'Epitome' to be released this quarter. This has been sitting in my inbox all year for some stupid reason but alas I came back to my senses after Barry sent me a reminder email the other day. Check it out,, why don't you?
I'll hold off on the comparisons this early in Barry's career. He's doing his own thing and his voice sounds amazing + this song is a really good pop song with a little reggae sprinkling that just works and if you like it, support Barry Southgate and purchase his single right below...
We dropped the radio rip the other day and now MysDiggi has just liberated the CDQ for your listening pleasure! Enjoy IT & have a NICE weekend Mutha Luvaz!!!
I never ever beg you to listen to a song BUT I'm begging you to press play on this one... This song is simply beautiful and I was sceptical at first to even listen to it BUT I'm so glad I did + the fact that this song emanates from Nigeria makes it all the more amazing! 'God Is On Her Remix' is the lead single from Nigerian-based emerging Gospel rapper Phishaman aka Mr. Phisha off of his forthcoming mixtape, 'ER Music' and it features Bem Iordaah on vocals!
I would never expect to hear something like this from Nigerian artists and that is why I'm extra impressed. Sounds like something Talib Kweli or Common would be on! Lemme know what you think though...
I bring to you 'Afrodisiac', the first single from emerging British born Afro-Jazz Singer Teni which dropped back in December and features the legendary Tony Allen off of her forthcoming debut album of the same name... Star Slinger is a BEAST first and foremost & an amazing HIP-HOP producer (dead that electro box you try to put him in), let this NOT be mistaken! The UK-based beatsmith/musician/remixer just released a FREE EP of six instrumental tracks he said have just been collecting dust in his flat and these beats are simply the business. This is pure genius stuff! Prepare to hear some dope samples (vocal & instrumental) being flipped the heck out + heavy synths & percussions + all around beautiful music!
Check out my favourite CUTS from the EP and then download the whole lot before you leave... This first one is NSFW (you've been warned!)
I've only gone and posted half of the EP, I could post all the songs because they're that good! You need this in your life so get to downloading!
It would be futile for me to describe what you're about to hear so I will NOT do so + it's 1am and this song is taking me on a proper trip right now so I suggest you just press PLAY. I am absolutely drawn in as soon as the guitar strums set this song on its way and by the time the hauntingly lush vocals (is it a coda?) join in with the minimalistic drum patterns, the song has taken me somewhere different AND by the time the crescendo of an instrumental chorus hits, well why don't I let you tell it?

Check out Sammy's lead single right below as produced by the one they call Sleekamo, it's called 'Oh My!'
Everything from the silky smooth voice of this very promising singer Sammy down to very head-bopping Pop-esque musical backdrop provided by Sleekamo kinda works, doesn't it? At first, it kinda feels like Seeklamo's production might be too big for Sammy BUT from when you hear that first 'Oh My!', tell me you're not just hooked?
And for the B-side, Sammy and his producer cohort Sleekamo come with an every smoother, more chilled out track titled 'Hustler' which you can listen to and download after the jump...

I'll let you decide who took it BUT for me, KB smashed it + this must be my favourite 8 bars from Ghost of Show Dem Camp + El Flaco does his thing still (he needs better hooks on his songs and he's laughing) but like I said, I'll let you decide who took it. Get your download on below as per usual!
I love this flurry of NEW Skepta records!!! This one is called 'BIG' & it features the one they call Chipmunk off of the forthcoming Skepta album 'Doin' It Again' due out on the 31st of January... Listen below!
Shouts to Danielson over at London to MK for the liberation! Like I said before in my previous Skepta post, this is reminiscent of the very dope 'Reflecting' off of the rather lacklustre 'Microphone Champion' and I hope much of the new album will be in this vein.
Brand NEW Single from Nigerian Hip-Hop artist, Naeto Ctitled 'Share My Blessings', featuring the very amazing Singer/Songwriter Asa on vocal duties... This is the sheer visual quality with which Nigerian films should be made! If you can't bring this video and sound quality in your films then you really shouldn't bother! I Just peeped this (very short) trailer over at Gidilounge of a 2011 short film titled 'Nkiru', produced by Nkechi Bakare and directed by Bolaji Kekere-Ekun & 37th State Film Studios
"Nkiru 37thState releases a trailer for the first in a trilogy of short films set in Lagos, Nigeria. The story of NKIRU centers around a group of friends who go to the beach and disappear under mysterious circumstances. With stellar performances from all of its fresh up and coming cast, this supernatural thriller takes a modern look at a familiar myth in Nigerian and African society." - 37th State
