iVideo - Bon Iver - Hinnom + Baby + More (Air Studios Live)

4AD and Jagjaguwar have collaborated on a live session that captures a truly unique Bon Iver performance, featuring Justin Vernon and Sean Carey. Vernon was joined only by Carey, rather than an eleven piece band, like we are used to seeing him pair with. The duo positioned themselves opposite one another on two grand pianos and although neither Justin nor Sean's first instrument is the piano, they were able to remodel the songs in a way that showcases their complimentary vocals.

The set-list includes: Hinnom Tx,Wash, I can't make you love me, Babys, Beth/Rest.

Recently, Grammy Award-nominated Justin Vernon aka Bon Iver was in New York and he stopped over at Jimmy Fallon's Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. As per usual, the legendary Roots crew - who are of course the resident house band at Late Night with Jimmy Fallon - were on hand and this eight minute footage of Vernon jamming with The Roots on an extended jam session the beautiful of "Perth" off of Vernon's 2011 Bon Iver album is the kinda genius stuff you get when you get these people in the room together. Professor Penguin are a new London-based band that is being compared to the likes of Bombay Bicycle Club, Bon Iver and The National so I just had to press play on their debut single titled "Pilot" and I have to say, it's a really good record and even though the comparisons listed above might be somewhat premature, Professor Penguin - with this new record - are definitely worth checking out. Already being supported by Lauren Laverne (BBC 6 Music) and Nick Grimshaw (BBC Radio 1), "Pilot" is the lead single for the band's forthcoming debut album Planes which is due out in February, 2012, listen below...

The deluxe version of Bon Iver's sophomore album Bon Iver hits stores today and here's one of the visuals that will be accompanying the release. "Beth/Rest" is one of the most talked about songs on Bon Iver and rightly so, it's very unlike Vernon on the surface but this Solo acoustic version turned people's opinions back in September. iMusic... Bon Iver - Beth/Rest (Solo Piano Version)

Justin Vernon/Bon Iver's self-titled sophomore album is a great record - one of the best of 2011 so far - but one song off of the album that a lot of Bon Iver fans and critics alike give rather too much stick (in my opinion) is the album's closer "Beth/Rest". "For good reason", some might say - it sounds nothing like the rest of the album and it feels out of place plus it's a Lionel Richie/Bruce Hornsby-type 80's Adult Contemporary/Soft Rock record aka "Cheesy" and that's certainly not what we know and love Justin Vernon for - not that I mind by the way, I actually like "Beth/Rest" for a number of reasons. 

Anyway Bon Iver was recently on NPR's World Cafe and Vernon gave a brilliant performance of "Beth/Rest" - a more stripped down acoustic Piano rendition of "Beth/Rest" that is not only AWESOME but should please any stubborn critics of the original album cut, listen BELOW...

Indie folk band Bon Iver just premiered - on National Geographic - their Nabil Elderkin-directed video for their second single off of their sophomore self-titled album titled "Holocene". These are amazing visuals from director Elderkin capturing the beautiful landscape of Iceland's great outdoors for the already ethereal and lush record from Justin Vernon and his band.
