iTelevision... Channel 4's Hidden Talent (Episode 1 Review)

Hidden Talent 9PM, Channel 4 (Last Episode: Tuesday, 24 April)

Richard Deacon hosts a hour-long journey of discovery with two unsuspectingly talented individuals on Channel 4. Chosen from thousands for their unusually high scores in scientific tests, they’re thrown in at the deep end to see if they’ve really got the goods. Not as entertaining as I had thought it would be but I was impressed with Maggie the nurse who with just 18 days of training managed to successfully climb the Old Man of Stoer in Sutherland; a massive rock face that managed to make me feel uneasy just peering at it from under my covers. Brenda the retired Bridal boutique owner slipped into the role of F.B.I interrogator frighteningly well and managed to detect the liar in a line up including two actors, a fruit and veg salesman and a professional poker player. Worth watching if only to remind you of the immense capabilities we possess as human beings and spur you own curiosity about what your hidden talent might be. Take the tests HERE.

A new episode of Hidden Talent is on tonight (May 1) at 9PM on Channel 4 as new participants discover freediving and art appreciation.

iTelevision... What To Watch This Weekend (27/04 - 29/04)

Friday

Very Important People, 9:30pm Channel 4 (Friday 27 April)

After the failure of her first attempt at a sketch show, The Morgana Show; Morgana Robinson is back on our screen this week in a brand new impressionist show with Terry Mynott. Featuring among others, a very accurate and foul-mouthed Gordon Ramsey, the absolute spitting-image of Noel Gallagher and what could easily be cameo appearances from Amy Childs and Natalie Cassidy, this series seems to be set for a more successful reception. Aiming not only to poke fun at the celebrities we know and love to hate, but also at the celebrity culture we’ve created, the show will feature a topical sketch filmed in the week of transmission to keep up with our ever evolving need for the latest celeb gossip. The trailers had me laughing straight away and Friday night will see if it gets the Series Link seal of approval.

iTelevision... Turtle Boy: A Bodyshock Special on Channel 4 (10PM Tonight)

Turtle Boy: A Bodyshock Special (10PM, Channel 4)

It always surprises me how resilient a person can be, especially when it is a young person who is afflicted with a terrible illness or condition that most of us couldn’t even imagine dealing with. The perseverance and fight for life is inspiring and reminds us that our problems may be just a drop in the ocean compared to the plight of others. Turtle Boy: A Bodyshock Special is another one of these documentaries about a brave young boy and the struggle he and his family go through every day. The first episode of the Bodyshock series brings us an intimate look into the life of six year old Didier from Columbia, living with a giant mole that covers 40% of his body.
