iReview... Style & Substance: Battle of the Sexes @ Queen of Hoxton (December 6, 2011)

Last week Tuesday (December 6), I had the privilege of being invited to the last Style & Substance live music showcase of the year put together by London-based event managers Sistova Production. This showcase - tagged Style & Substance - Battle of the Sexes - saw the otherwise all-female music showcase invite some of the most promising emerging UK male artists and performers to pit their talent against a selection of up and coming UK female artists and performers plus it was also in aid of the Fibromyalgia Association UK charity...

iEVENT... G.R.E.Ed.S + The REMEDIES present The Ready EP Launch @ Hoxton Square (Saturday, December 3)

"We are pleased to invite you to the launch of Yomi 'G.R.E.Ed.S' Sode and The Remedies new EP Ready, released on 3 December 2011. Acclaimed British-Nigerian performer Yomi Sode, known on the circuit as G.R.E.Ed.S (Generating Rhymes to Enlighten Engaged Soul) fuses spoken word and acoustic sounds in a new EP that breaks free from the expected forms of spoken word.  

His debut project Volume in Silence, released in 2009, took listeners into his darkest reflections. In this second offering, Ready doesn't just push lyrical boundaries, it also takes the spoken word format out of its comfort zone in it's collaboration with live session band, The Remedies. The EP features include award-winning singer Dionne Reid, Josh Idehen of LV collaboration fame and Hadyn Corrodus of Indie Hip-Hop band The Stow. Harnessing the Spoken Word with Indie, Reggae, Hip-Hop and Soul beat patterns, G.R.E.Ed.S says "Ready is a transition from the dark to a more comfortable place." - Press Release

You really do NOT need to be told about this one! It is going to be a packed house on Saturday, December 3 at the Hoxton Square bar & Kitchen as UK Spoken Word artist G.R.E.Ed.S along with The Remedies band launch their highly anticipated Ready EP with support performances from Joel Culpepper and Kal Lavelle with Dean Atta and Deanna Rodger on hosting duties (I told you!). You really do not wanna be told about how this all went down so get your tickets now and make sure you're in attendance for this!!!

The details are sketchy right about now but pictures hitting the web a couple days ago suggest a new collective is about to stake claim and take hold of the UK's Spoken Word scene in 2011! Individually, Greeds, Dean Atta, Deanna Rodger, James Massiah, Indigo Williams and Hollie McNish are amongst the very best spoken word artists in the London scene at the moment and iDare to think what kinda amazingness this collaborative venture will spring forth... We'll have to keep our eyes peeled, won't we?

iLaunch... Dean Atta - Missing Piece (Album)

UK-based Spoken Word artist Dean Atta will be releasing his début album 'Missing Piece' on Monday, the 4th of October and the album launch party will be taking place on the same day at The Workshop @ Roadtrip Bar in East London (we'll give you full details after the jump). Listen below to 'Fatherless Nation' off of the forthcoming album.

I've seen Mr. Atta perform about three times and each time I've been blown away by his poetry and presence so I will be down there on Monday for the launch party/performance and you should come down too. Check out some more details on the 'Missing Piece' album + the launch party after the jump!

I wonder if there was any MONEY on how long the amazing 'Music is Remedy' team would stay out of the Live Music Scene for, because THEY ARE BACK ladies & gentlemen, and SO back they are... With an epic line-up of very amazing emerging UK talent, this evening is looking like it is gonna be another EPIC one from the fellas!
